First Pour of Concrete (FPC) for Kaiga Units-5&6 took place on March 01, 2026, marking the formal commencement of construction for the reactors. MEIL Group is executing this prestigious project for NPCIL.
The milestone ceremony was graced by Dr. Ajit Kumar Mohanty, Chairman AEC & Secretary DAE, and Shri Bhuwan Chandra Pathak, CMD NPCIL, along with NPCIL & MEIL Group senior officials and dignitaries.
FPC signifies the transition from pre-project activities to the construction phase.
The 700 MW pressurised heavy water reactors are being built under the Make in India initiative, featuring indigenous reactor technology for Units 5&6.
