Heavy inflows from the catchment area have caused the River Godavari's water level to rise to around 33 metres near the Polavaram project's spillway. Consequently, around 10 lakh cusecs of floodwater have been released downstream through the 48 radial gates at the spillway, flowing towards the Dowleswaram Barrage.
