Today, on April 7, 2026, India’s biggest -diameter single-shield hard-rock TBM, Nayak, was launched for the Thane-Borivali Twin Tunnel.
The launch took place in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Sunetra Pawar, MMRDA Commissioner Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, MEIL Group Managing Director P.V. Krishna Reddy, Director Ch. Subbaiah, and other dignitaries.
This 11.84 km tunnel under Sanjay Gandhi National Park will reduce travel time from 60-90 minutes to just 15 minutes.
