At IOCL's Gujarat Refinery in Vadodara, MEIL Group has reached a proud new milestone in the RFCC (Residual Fluid Catalytic Cracking) EPCC-02 segment.
On January 25, 2026, our teams successfully erected the main fractionator column – the true heart of the RFCC unit, where residual feed is converted into high-value petroleum products. For the first time in MEIL Group's history, such a massive fractionator was fully manufactured at the project site itself, then transported and erected in one piece.
This giant column weighs about 950 metric tonnes, with a diameter of 9.6 metres, an overall length of 56.4 metres, and a shell thickness of 116 mm with stainless steel cladding in high-grade alloy steel. Moving this huge vessel from the fabrication bay to its final location using Self-Propelled Modular Transporters, and then lifting and positioning it safely on its foundation, required precise engineering, detailed planning, and flawless coordination.
This achievement showcases MEIL's growing strength in heavy fabrication, modular construction, and critical lifts inside complex refinery environments. It is a big step forward for the RFCC package and a proud moment for every engineer, technician, and worker on the site.
