At MEIL, we are committed to creating sustainable infrastructure that transforms lives and we are proving this with the execution of Pavagada Drinking Water Supply Scheme in Karnataka. The project is designed to bring clean and safe drinking water to rural communities across Pavagada, Molakalmuru, Challakere, Kudligi, Hosapete and parts of Chitradurga district.
This ambitious project draws water from the Tungabhadra Dam, located 230 kilometres away, and delivers it to these communities through an extensive infrastructure network. To make this vision a reality, a robust infrastructure is being built to ensure the efficient sourcing, treatment, and delivery of water.
Some of the key elements include jackwells and intake wells which are essential for extracting water from the source, approach canals facilitating the smooth flow of water and 181 MLD Water treatment Plant to thoroughly purify and make it safe for consumption before it reaches the communities.
An impressive 2700 kilometre pipeline network is being laid, which will carry treated water directly to rural villages. Additionally, over 580 overhead storage tanks are being constructed. With most of the construction work complete, the project is in its final stages. Once completed, the Pavagada scheme will provide a long-term solution to the water scarcity challenges faced by rural Karnataka.
