The Polavaram Hydro Electric Project reached an important milestone with the successful testing and commissioning of the 150/30 T Electrically Overhead Traveller (EOT) Cranes. The team conducted a full load test of the 150-ton crane, which was completed successfully and found to be satisfactory. These EOT cranes are essential for starting the installation of turbine and generator equipment in the powerhouse.
A senior team from APGENCO, including Director (Hydel) Sujay Kumar and Chief Engineer (HPC) Nagaraju, visited the project site to witness this achievement. Their presence highlighted the importance of this stage in the project’s progress.
From MEIL, Joint COO ANV Satish Babu and General Manager Prasenjit Majumdar, along with the engineering staff, oversaw the testing and commissioning process. Their technical skills and teamwork made this achievement possible.
The successful commissioning of the EOT cranes now clears the way for the next phase—installing the main turbine and generator equipment. This progress is the result of strong cooperation between the APGENCO and MEIL teams.
We thank everyone involved for their efforts and look forward to further progress as the Polavaram Hydro Electric Project moves ahead.
