The Ram Jal Setu Link Project in Rajasthan is India’s first irrigation project being executed under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM). Designed to strengthen water security, irrigation and regional development, it will provide reliable water to an estimated 3.25 crore people across 17 districts and create irrigation benefits across about 2.82 lakh hectares. MEIL Group is executing four major segments of this landmark project.
Originally conceived as the Parvati–Kalisindh–Chambal–ERCP (PKC-ERCP), the scheme evolved into the Ram Jal Setu Link Project to integrate inter-basin transfer solutions within the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project framework. The region faces seasonal scarcity and fragmented irrigation coverage, and the project links river systems and feeder networks to stabilise supplies, improve agricultural productivity and meet rural, urban and industrial demand.
MEIL Group is executing four critical segments that combine civil construction, systems integration and long-term operations and maintenance. Segment 2 includes Ramgarh and Mahalpur barrages, the Navnera Pump House, rising mains and delivery cisterns, the feeder system and the Chambal aqueduct. Segment 3 covers downstream conveyance works toward Mej, Galwa, Isarda and Bisalpur. Segment 4 comprises the feeder system from Khura Chainpura to Jaisamand in Alwar. Each segment is being delivered with strict environmental safeguards and proactive stakeholder engagement.
The Chambal aqueduct is the project’s signature civil structure and a showcase of MEIL Group’s engineering expertise. Stretching 2,280 metres with an internal width of 41.25 metres and a height of 7.7 metres, it is designed to carry large-scale flows while preserving the Chambal’s natural regime and ecology. Linking Pipalda Samel in Kota district to Guhata in Bundi district, the aqueduct will also serve as an alternate public crossing. With piling and major civil works progressing rapidly, it stands as a powerful symbol of the scale, precision and purpose behind the Ram Jal Setu Link Project.
