The Government of Tanzania has collaborated with MEIL to execute water supply projects in two segments. The company is building an 8,450-km-long pipeline network to supply potable water to households. Elevated service reservoirs and ground service reservoirs for water storage are also being constructed.

Holistic Approach to Water Accessibility

Under the first segment, MEIL prioritizes six towns - Kiomboi, Singida, Manyoni, Chamwino, Chemba and Mugumu. The scope of work is extensive and complex, ranging from constructing boreholes, submersible pump sets, and boosting stations to establishing reservoirs, water treatment plants, and an extensive network of distribution lines.

The strategic placement of a 15 MLD intake well near the Manchira Dam underscores MEIL's commitment to tapping into sustainable water sources. Additionally, the 32 km pipeline, meticulously laid through the forest, ensures a seamless and consistent drinking water supply to the targeted towns.

Elevating Water Infrastructure

The second segment encompasses a vast project stretch from Dar-Es-Salaam to Tabora, with a focus benefiting four key towns - Kasulu, Mpanda, Sikonge, and Urambo.

MEIL will be involved in the construction and commissioning of intake pump houses, VT pumps, clear water pump houses, transformers, ground-level reservoirs, and water treatment plants with 12 MLD and 15 MLD capacities.

The company’s engagement in these initiatives reflects not only engineering expertise, but also a deep-rooted commitment to improving the quality of life for Tanzanian communities. By addressing water scarcity, MEIL plays a significant role in enhancing sustainable development, economic growth, and the overall well-being of the people.
