The MEIL has executed the Bhubaneswar Bulk Water Supply Scheme in Odisha. Launched by the Government of Odisha, it caters to the drinking water needs of industries, municipalities, and leading educational institutions like IIT-Bhubaneswar, NISER, the Industrial Park. Water from River Mahanadi is purified in a state-of-the-art system before being supplied to industries. The company completed the project in 2017 and will be maintaining it for 25 years.
EXECUTION OVERVIEW
In this project, the company built two water treatment plants of 69-MLD and 83-MLD capacities, an intake well, a pump house, a 11-MLD-capacity Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) system, and four ground-level reservoirs within the stipulated time. In addition, it constructed seven reservoirs with capacities ranging from 225 kilolitres to 2,250 kilolitres. Furthermore, an 85.62-km-long pipeline of Mild Steel (MS) and DI was laid.
