Gundlupet Drinking Water Project
Gundlupet Drinking Water Project

The Gundlupet Drinking Water Project is one of MEIL's earliest projects in Karnataka. It was constructed to supply drinking water to 131 villages of Gundlupet in Chamarajanagar as the area is prone to droughts and groundwater is contaminated. The Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Department awarded the project to the company in March 2014 to mitigate this problem.

The company laid a 98-km pipeline and set up a 22.50-MLD capacity water treatment plant, constructed a pump house, an intake well, and a jack well on the banks of River Kabini. In addition, the company built nine zonal balancing reservoirs, three master balancing reservoirs, and two intermediate pumping stations.

After the work was completed on time, the project is now under operation and maintenance. The project provides potable water to 1,88,235 beneficiaries. The water is regularly tested and pumped for 16 hours daily.
