At the heart of India's largest multi-purpose irrigation project, Polavaram, lies a story of resilience, precision, and global recognition.
Recently, international experts, including Discico, Richard Donnelly, and David Paul, along with senior officials such as Polavaram Authority Secretary Raghuram and Central Water Power Department Deputy Commissioner Gaurav Singhal, conducted a detailed three-day review of the project.
Despite the challenges posed by heavy monsoon floods, the dedicated workforce is demonstrating outstanding engineering excellence.

In these difficult flood conditions, the engineering teams are making significant progress on structures like the diaphragm wall, a massive barrier measuring 1,400 meters long and up to 95 meters deep. This structure is being built using an innovative plastic concrete mix to secure the dam's foundation.
The project employs advanced techniques, including deep soil mixing and specialised concrete formulations designed for complex soil types, particularly in Gap-2. These methods showcase cutting-edge engineering solutions tailored to the unique challenges presented by the Godavari River.
Most importantly, the project strictly adheres to the highest quality standards by meticulously following Indian Standards (IS) codes. Every structural element is built in compliance with these codes, assuring safety, durability, and integrity.

The international panel expressed satisfaction with the project's adherence to stringent quality standards, efficient execution, and timely progress under demanding conditions.
This expert validation is a strong testament to the unwavering commitment of every engineer, worker, and planner involved in the Polavaram project.
MEIL Group and its project partners continue prioritising safety, innovation, and sustainable development, ensuring that the Polavaram project will benefit millions by providing irrigation, drinking water, and hydroelectric power.
