Distinguished by its distinctive features, the Paradip Refinery marks IOCL's first foray into processing 15 Million Metric Tonnes Per Annum with a single Atmospheric Column. This modern refinery meets the energy demands of the domestic market and partially exports, too.

Innovation Meets Demand

As a key player in the project, MEIL has undertaken a crucial package, contributing to the refinery's efficiency and sustainability. We are executing the offsite & utilities project along with the cooling tower, utility boiler, reformate tank and toluene loading arm.

This refinery incorporates cutting-edge elements and is designed to handle 100% High Sulphur Crude, boasting a TAN of 0.5. It features Flue Gas Desulphurisation facilities for high Sulphur Vacuum Residue combustion and a Jetty Loading Vapour Recovery system. These innovations adhere to rigorous emission standards for SOx and Volatile Organic Compounds, even during intense High Sulphur Crude processing.

Powering Distillation

The Cooling Tower, a critical element in refining processes, efficiently dissipates excess heat through evaporative cooling. Meanwhile, the Utility Boiler stands as a powerhouse, generating steam vital for distillation processes and ensuring the refinery's energy needs are met efficiently. The Reformate Tank plays a pivotal role in storing high-octane reformate, a critical component in gasoline production.

Refining Precision

Adding to the precision of operations is the Toluene Loading Arm, designed for safely and efficiently loading toluene. This key solvent and feedstock find their way from the refinery's storage facilities to tanker trucks or vessels, facilitated by the loading arm's reliability.

Our multifaceted efforts encompass residual process engineering, design, civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation endeavours. Bolstered by our advanced technological capabilities, we steadfastly contribute to India's energy sector and are resolutely progressing towards the project's timely completion.

About the Paradip Refinery Package

MEIL has taken up only one package of this project but not entire refinery. The Cooling Tower in a refinery is a critical component that efficiently dissipates excess heat generated during refining processes. By employing evaporative cooling, hot water or process fluids are circulated through the tower. The Cooling Tower plays a vital role in enhancing safety and sustainability within the refinery.

The Utility Boiler is a powerhouse in a refinery, generating vital steam for processes like distillation. It ensures the refinery's energy requirements are met efficiently. Meanwhile, the Reformate Tank is essential for storing reformate, a high-octane component produced during catalytic reforming. This tank guarantees a reliable supply of reformate, supporting the production of quality gasoline.

The Toluene Loading Arm in a refinery is a specialized apparatus designed for the safe and efficient loading of toluene, a key solvent and feedstock. It facilitates the seamless transfer of toluene from the refinery's storage facilities to tanker trucks or vessels. The loading arm's precision and reliability are crucial in ensuring the smooth transportation and distribution of toluene, a vital component in various industrial processes.
