MEIL takes pride in having efficiently executed the Lambadug Hydroelectric Power project, aimed to bolster Himachal Pradesh’s energy needs. Located in the rugged terrains of Kangra district, the 25 Mega Watt run-of-the-river project marks another milestone in our journey to deliver reliable infrastructure.
Executing a hydroelectric project in the challenging Himalayan terrain requires not only skill but also the use of innovative, modern technologies. To build some critical structures like the surface powerhouse, switchyard, head race tunnel, and surge tanks, MEIL had to navigate difficult topographies while being conscious about our commitment to sustainability.
Both electrical and civil works, including the erection of transmission towers, were successfully completed to provide seamless power generation & transmission.
One more interesting aspect of this project is that we use an eco-friendly ropeway system to transport heavy machinery and materials. MEIL chose this approach instead of building roads, which could disrupt the local ecosystem.
