Megha City Gas Distribution Pvt. Ltd., popularly known as Megha Gas and a wholly owned subsidiary of MEIL marked a momentous milestone on Friday, November 8, 2024, with the launch of its 200th CNG station in India.
Tiruvannamalai, November 08, 2024: Megha City Gas Distribution Private Limited (MCGDPL), popularly known as Megha Gas, a leading player in the Indian City Gas Distribution (CGD) sector, commissioned its 200th Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station at Tindivanam, Tiruvannamalai district, Tamil Nadu, on Friday. This milestone reflects Megha Gas’ unwavering commitment to expanding its green energy infrastructure across India and accelerating the shift towards eco-friendly transportation.
The CNG station, a Company Owned Company Operated (COCO) outlet, was inaugurated at the Megha Gas Mother Station and City Gate Station (CGS) facility in Tindivanam, by Mr. Ranu Ram, Chief General Manager (Construction) IOCL, who was the Chief Guest for the event. The event was highlighted by the filling of a CNG bike, marking a new revolution in the two-wheeler segment in India.
Megha Gas also formally unveiled the Liquified Natural Gas Plant (LNG) at the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) in Cheyyar, marking a significant enhancement of the natural gas ecosystem in the region. The LNG plant will ensure the supply of CNG to fuel outlets in the region and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) supply to the industries in SIPCOT, boosting productivity and supporting decarbonization efforts.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Ranu Ram congratulated Megha Gas on the 200th milestone. Appreciating the Tamil Nadu team who had worked dedicatedly to establish these facilities, he said, “The future of Natural Gas is bright, and people should consider shifting to alternative eco-friendly fuels like CNG. I wish the Megha Gas team the very best for the next 100th and their 1000th CNG station in the coming future.”
Mr. Venkatesh Palimpati, Director and CEO of Megha Gas, expressed his happiness at reaching the 200th CNG station milestone and committed to achieving 100 more stations in a shorter span. He thanked IOCL for their support and highlighted the significance of the first Megha Gas LNG Plant and the Tindivanam CGS Mother Station in Tamil Nadu. He also congratulated the Megha Gas team for their hard work and dedication and asserted that the target of 1,000 CNG stations will be met soon.
The commissioning of this station marks another step forward in Megha Gas' mission to promote sustainable energy solutions and support India's vision of reducing its carbon footprint.
