Evey Trans Private Limited is India’s largest electric bus operator. The company, a subsidiary of the MEIL, is the only 100 per cent electric bus operator in India. Established in 2018, the company successfully operates e-buses in multiple cities like Mumbai, Pune, Surat, Silvassa, Goa, Hyderabad, Dehradun and Nagpur.
The ambitious government policies have driven the deployment of electric vehicles in public transport across the country. Apart from achieving net-zero emissions, it aims to reduce oil dependency in transportation. The Government of India is aggressively promoting the adoption of electric vehicles and has launched FAME-I & II policies to promote, incentivise, and adopt electric vehicles. The Government has planned to introduce 100 per cent of electric vehicles into public transport by 2030. The company is at the forefront of introducing electric buses in the country.
The company entered the agreements to operate buses with several State Transport Undertakings (STU) under Gross Cost Contract (GCC) basis. The Government of India prioritizes the shift toward clean mobility with zero-emission by providing subsidies to STUs under the policy guidelines. The company procures the e-buses from the Olectra Greentech Limited (Olectra), a pioneer in electric bus manufacturing. Olectra looks after the electrical and civil infrastructure maintenance of these buses. In addition, the company has established charging infrastructure in the operational locations on its own.
The company operates electric buses in eight states and has deployed 463 buses. As of January 31, 2022, its buses travelled 4,44,61,093 kilometres and reduced C02 emissions significantly. In Maharashtra alone, it operated 28,770,300 kilometres. In addition, Evey Trans is the first company in India to operate special buses called Tejaswini Bus Service for women in Nagpur.
