MEIL has successfully erected critical vessels at IOCL's Gujarat refinery near Vadodara, marking a significant milestone in establishing the Propylene Recovery Unit. This unit is part of the "Petrochemical and Lube Integration Project" (LuPech), under the refinery's expansion initiative aimed at augmenting its capacity from 13.7 Million Metric Tons per annum to 18 Million Metric Tons per annum.
The erection of the massive vessels, including the Heat Pump KO Drum Overhead Receiver and seven Dryers and Treaters Vessels, is a testament to MEIL's engineering prowess. The Heat Pump KO Drum Cum Overhead Receiver, measuring 18.4 meters in length, 7.2 meters in diameter, and weighing 190 metric tons, is a marvel of engineering. The Propylene Dryers, each 12 meters long and 3 meters in diameter, weigh 42 metric tons, while the Propylene Treaters, ranging from 15 to 18 meters in length, weigh between 38 to 75 metric tons.
The successful erection of these vessels marks a major accomplishment, with a total of 32 vessel erections completed to date. Notably, 16 of these vessels were manufactured at MEIL's state-of-the-art manufacturing unit in Hyderabad and transported to the Gujarat refinery, demonstrating the facility's robust production capacity.
