Telangana took a giant leap towards a brighter future in water management on December 10, 2024, as Chief Minister Revant Reddy commissioned the Udaya Samudram Brahmana Velamla Lift Irrigation Project. MEIL is proud to be a part of this initiative that will rejuvenate the lives of countless individuals in the Nalgonda and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri Districts.
The project's primary objective is to provide relief to drought-affected areas by supplying irrigation water to an impressive 1 lakh acres of land across 94 villages. Additionally, it will cater to the drinking water needs of 107 villages struggling with fluoride contamination. This will be possible by lifting 6.70 TMC of water from the Udaya Samudram Balancing Reservoir to the Brahmana Vellemula Balancing Reservoir.
To achieve this feat, we have established a range of critical infrastructure components, including a 7-kilometre-long approach channel, a surge pool, a pump house, and a massive delivery cistern. We have also excavated a 625-meter length of a D-shaped tunnel.
With the Udaya Samudram project now operational, the people of Telangana can look forward to a future free from the shackles of water scarcity. This project marks a significant milestone in addressing the region's long-standing water challenges, paving the way for a brighter, more prosperous tomorrow.
